What is true happiness that gives you a fulfilled life

Happiness, true happiness, is an inner quality. It is a state of mind. If your mind is at peace, you are happy. If your mind is at peace, but you have nothing else, you can be happy. If you have everything the world can give - pleasure, possessions, power - but lack peace of mind, you can never be happy. Dada Vaswani

Are you happy?

Examine yourself. Think about it for a moment, are you happy with your life, where you are, the direction that life is taking you?

In many cases happiness comes and goes like the ebb and flow of the ocean on a beach

Some days are great and we are on top of the world, then, at times in the blink of an eye everything seems to come crashing down and we have the weight of the world on our shoulders , and we go from the heights of joy, into the depths of despair.

We wonder why? What happened? Things were so great the future looked golden.

So why does this happen to us? I have wondered this often, it seems like things work for so many others, but at times things just don’t work out for me.

In the world we live in we are bombarded with advertisements, we scan social media and we hear all these wonderful stories of all these great things happening for and to others. Then we wonder why do they get all the good things and enjoy life, while mine is drudgery.

We see these wonderful lives lived by characters on television shows and movies. we hear tale of the wonderful lives of the rich and famous, and we think why not me? Their lives are so perfect and here I am, living paycheck to paycheck, barely making ends meet and my car just broke down today, what the hell is going on.

If you are going through and thinking this, have something to tell you, all that stuff you read and see on social media, television, the movies. All the stories that you hear. It’s all bullshit.

Live your own life, find your own happiness, and never compare your reality with the false images portrayed by others

Let us get back to your happiness, are you happy?

What do you do to find happiness and to remain happy? Or what do you think makes You happy.

What about that which you see others doing or saying or posting on social media makes you think that they are happy?

This brings us to the socratic question, what is happiness?

Before you read the rest of this blog, post your answer in the comments section, and after reading the balance of the blog, let us know if you changed your mind or not and why. I’m looking forward to an engaging dialogue on the topic.

This not a contest or debate, think of it as a group of friends, just sitting around trying to find the answer to a question that some of the greatest minds the world has known have pondered about for centuries.

So so what do you think makes you happy or what would make you happy? I’m a life coach, that is what I do. My eyes are opening up to a grand new world new ideas a new way of thinking. I’m doing for others, rather than just doing for myself. In my former life I worked toward finding happiness, but the more I worked for it, the less happy I became and the attainment of the goal of happiness moved further and further away. ailable in kindle

Back then then I had everything, I was living the so called “American Dream “, I should have been happy

I was not happy, I was miserable

I was working a lot, even when I was home or on vacation I was working or thinking about work I was over stressed, arguing with my wife not giving the attention to my family that they deserved, I was short tempered, at times, with others and my children. I was running all around, robing Peter to pay Paul . Yes I had the stuff, but I wasn’t happy.

Do what did I do, I got more stuff. If course the more stuff I got to make myself happy the more miserable I became, until we reached a breaking point and I lost everything.

when it all came crashing down, as it often does, I was more miserable than before, I didn’t have my wife, I did not have my kids I did not have my house I did not even have my stuff.

Now, that it’s been a few years and I no longer have stuff, I don’t have the big house I don’t have anything close to a new car but I’m happier than what I was. I do what I can to help others, help them with their problems,

Have you ever had this happen in your life? The more you focus on attaining something, the more elusive it becomes. This is how it is with happiness, I have found this true with relationships, another thing that I have chased in the past, but that is a whole other blog. Relationships is a blog that is in the works right now. It should be a good one, so, if you haven’t already, sign up below to follow my blog so y won’t miss it

Now back to happiness.

Is happiness attainable or will it always remain out of reach except for brief periods here and there. as German Philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer Said:

“Accordingly, happiness lies always in the future, or else in the past, and the present may be compared to a small dark cloud driven by the wind over the sunny plain; in front of and behind the cloud everything is bright, only it itself always casts a shadow.” (The World as Will and Representation).

I realize that giving up can be easily done, we become content with who we are, and comfortable with our lot in life thinking this is it, how things will be. and we just follow the herd of humanity.

Our dreams, our want in life, how we once believed our lives would be just fade into the past and are relighted to the fantasies of youth!

it doesn’t have to be this way!

You deserve happiness and fulfillment in your life

You too can be happy and fulfilled

its time to take control, break away from the herd trudging through life day in and day out with no real purposes or goals in life

I was able to do this, so can you I list everything, I had to start anew. I was fearful of making the wrong choices, I got so bad that I could not even order lunch in a restaurant without changing my mind, always fearful that I would make the wrong choice I became content just being another cog in the wheel of life!

I was a mess.

then a light came on and I said what the hell is wrong with me, this is not who I am. This is not who I want to be.

The first step is breaking away from the herd. This is easier said than done at times. Not only dies it take the strength to face your own fears and self doubts and be willing to stand on your own ready to take on life, rather than just following along with the crow. One also will have to stand firm in the face of ridicule and distain from those content be part of the herd.

It shout, you have to become your own person, it takes self actualization. to become self actualized you need to face your fears and realize that they are nothing to be afraid of.

"Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it." --Judy Blume

With each fear we conquer, we begin to take more and more of our life back. Slowly those chains that we holding us down, keeping us from becoming who we are; who we were meant to be begin to fall off. Then a who bright new works open up in front of us.

This is is a word where those dreams of youth no longer have to be dreams, rather we can make them reality.

As our mind and world expands we are no longer looking down and focused on ourselves but we see the value in helping others. Through giving of ourselves to aid others we will find happiness and fulfillment. Not just a happiness and fulfillment that comes and goes but one that is sustained through life.

Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.
